A gothic blackletter with flourished capitals and broken strokes, for taverns, beer labels, fair posters and seals
Moss Loom sets blackletter with the warmth of a painted tavern sign. Lowercase strokes break at angles and end in sharp, angled feet, while the capitals curl outward with thin hairline swashes. The capital M on its own card shows it best, with two heavy arches, a short thin stroke between them and a long tapered flourish that sweeps down to the left.
It is display type. The cards set it on an autumn fair poster, a specimen page titled The Weaver in the Moss, a letterhead and business cards for a brewhouse, a paper cup reading Ale House and a round red seal with a single M. Pair it with a plain serif for running text and keep it to headings, names and short lines, since long paragraphs of gothic letters tire the eye.
The set holds 94 glyphs for English. You get A to Z, a to z, figures 0 to 9 and punctuation with guillemets, curly quotes, an ellipsis and a middle dot. Currency signs, %, &, @, # and the numero sign are not part of it, and there are no alternates. One Regular weight, in OTF, TTF, WOFF and WOFF2.
