How to generate a Arabic font
Most font generators quietly mean “Latin”. Type a Arabic word into them and you get your own letters back unchanged, or a box of question marks. Drawing a real Arabic typeface is a different job, and it starts with four decisions.
- Describe the style, not the script. The script is already selected on this page. Spend your sentence on what the letters should look like — weight, contrast, corners, mood — and leave the alphabet to the generator.
- Add Latin if the font will ever meet it. Product names, URLs and numbers creep into every text. A family drawn for both scripts at once keeps them at the same weight and height; bolting Latin on later never quite matches.
- Read the draft in your own language. Type a real sentence you would actually publish. Problems in Arabic type show up in the rhythm of ordinary words long before they show up in an alphabet chart.
- Fix individual characters, then install. Any single character can be redrawn or regenerated without touching the rest. You download ordinary TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 files that work in every program on your machine.
What makes Arabic harder than Latin
Every Arabic letter has up to four shapes depending on where it stands in the word — isolated, initial, medial and final — and the letters join. A font that carries only the isolated forms looks correct in a specimen and produces broken, disconnected words the moment anyone types with it. On top of that the script runs right to left, the dots that distinguish ب ت ث must stay legible at small sizes, and the baseline behaves differently from Latin.
None of this is visible in a preview image, which is why so many “Arabic font” results disappoint the moment you install them. A font either handles these details or it falls apart in real text.
