Frequently asked questions

Everything people ask about AI font generation — short answers first, details on the linked pages.

What is YoFont?

YoFont is the only multi-script AI font generator: one text prompt produces a complete typeface covering up to 19 languages across 9 writing systems (Latin, Cyrillic, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Devanagari, Chinese, Japanese, Korean), in up to three weights, with every glyph editable in the Studio, exported as TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2 or embedded from the CDN. The first font is free.

Can ChatGPT create a font?

Not by itself — ChatGPT cannot assemble font files. But connected to YoFont via MCP (Model Context Protocol), an AI assistant like ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor can generate a real, downloadable font family right inside the conversation: it calls YoFont’s generate_font tool and returns TTF/OTF/WOFF/WOFF2 links. Setup takes about two minutes — see the API & MCP page. API & MCP →

Can AI generate a real font file, not just pictures of letters?

Yes. YoFont draws every glyph with a generative model, reconstructs vector outlines and assembles real, installable font binaries — TTF, OTF, WOFF and WOFF2. It is not an image generator and not a copy-paste symbol tool.

How many languages can one font include?

Up to 19 languages across 9 writing systems in a single family: English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, Russian, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, Greek, Arabic, Hebrew, Hindi, Chinese (two coverage tiers), Japanese and Korean. No other AI font generator produces multi-script fonts. → →

Can I edit individual letters after generation?

Yes — every glyph of every weight is editable in the Studio: regenerate any character with a follow-up prompt or adjust it manually, per language and per weight.

Is YoFont free?

The first font is free — no credit card required, with a monthly free glyph allowance. Paid plans add bigger glyph budgets, higher-quality models, private fonts and commercial use. Every plan includes API and MCP access.

Can I use generated fonts commercially?

Yes — paid plans include commercial use of your own generated fonts, and commercial fonts published by other authors unlock with a subscription to that author. See the license terms for details.

What is the difference between a “font generator” and a copy-paste text styler?

Most sites called “font generators” output Unicode symbols you can paste into bios — they do not create fonts at all. A real font generator produces installable font files. YoFont does the latter; it also offers free copy-paste tools, clearly labeled as symbol tools. → →

Can I turn my handwriting or a picture into a font?

Yes — photograph a few lines of handwriting or upload any reference image (a logo, a poster), and YoFont builds a complete typeface in that style, including languages you never wrote. See Handwriting to Font and Font from Image. → →

How do I put a generated font on my website?

Every published font has CDN-hosted @font-face URLs (WOFF2/WOFF/TTF/OTF) and a ready CSS snippet — paste it and set your font-family. You can also download the files and self-host.
