YoFont for Figma

Generate a complete, multilingual typeface from a single prompt and edit every glyph — right inside Figma. This page covers setup, everyday use, pricing and data handling for the YoFont plugin.

The plugin is free to install. A free YoFont account is required; new accounts receive free welcome glyphs. Some features (extra glyphs, commercial use, private fonts) require a paid plan — see Plans.

1. Setup

• Install YoFont from the Figma Community page, or in Figma: Plugins → Search “YoFont”.
• Run the plugin and press Log in with YoFont. Your browser opens yofont.com where you sign in (email or Google) and press Approve. The plugin connects automatically — no passwords are ever typed inside Figma.
• That's it. Your glyph balance and fonts sync with your YoFont studio.

2. Generating a font

• Describe the typeface in the prompt field (e.g. “futuristic sci-fi sans”). Pick languages, character sets and weights — the glyph cost is shown before you start.
• Optionally attach a reference: select layers on the canvas or drop an image anywhere into the plugin window. The reference image and your prompt are uploaded to yofont.com to run the generation.
• Generation runs on YoFont servers — you can keep working in Figma and will be notified when the font is ready.

3. Editing glyphs (Studio)

• Open your font → Edit. Redraw any glyph with a prompt, or fine-tune it manually (weight, slant, width, height, scale, tracking, glyph band).
• Every change keeps history — restore any previous version at any time.
• Regenerate whole blocks (uppercase, lowercase, digits, punctuation), languages or weights — the confirmation popup always shows what is affected and what it costs before anything runs.

4. Using a font in Figma

• Press Apply. If the font is already installed on your computer, it is applied to your selected text layers immediately (or a sample text layer is created).
• Otherwise the plugin downloads the font file in the format you choose (TTF/OTF/WOFF/WOFF2). Install it (double-click → Install), then click anywhere on the canvas — Figma refreshes its font list on that click and the plugin applies the font automatically.
• After you edit glyphs, the plugin marks installed copies as outdated and offers a one-click update. Note: Figma only re-reads an updated font file after the app is fully restarted — the plugin guides you through this.

5. Pricing

• Free: welcome glyphs on signup, full glyph editor, fonts published publicly on yofont.com.
• Paid plans: more glyphs, private fonts, commercial licensing and API access — see Plans. Glyph top-ups can be purchased any time without a subscription.
• All purchases happen on yofont.com, never inside the plugin.

6. Data & privacy

• The plugin reads only what you explicitly use: your current selection (for reference export and Apply) — never your whole file.
• Sent to yofont.com only when you request it: your prompt, attached/selected reference images, and font/account requests. Network access is limited to yofont.com.
• Your session key is stored in Figma's plugin storage on your machine. Disconnect any time from the account menu — this revokes the key.

7. Troubleshooting

• Font not detected after install — click anywhere on the canvas (Figma rescans fonts on that click), or press the “I installed it — check now” button. As a last resort reload the tab and reopen the plugin — it finishes automatically.
• Updated font shows old letterforms — quit Figma completely (⌘Q / Alt+F4) and open it again; Figma re-reads font files only on a fresh start.
• Figma in the browser — installing local fonts requires the Figma desktop app or Figma's font helper.
• Anything else — Support.
